The Kokua Festival offered online ticket buyers the opportunity to purchase an additional $2 carbon credit to offset the emissions generated by their travel to the Festival. Pacific Biodiesel, a Kokua Festival greening partner, used the carbon credits to displace petroleum in the Maui Electric Company plant with locally produced sustainable biodiesel.
If you flew into Hawaii for the Kokua Festival, we encouraged attendees to consider making their entire trip carbon-neutral via additional offsets; visit Native Energy to learn more.
Local Travel – We encouraged all attendees to utilize alternative methods of transportation to get to the Kokua Festival: biking, walking, utilizing public transportation, carpooling, driving a hybrid or biodiesel vehicle were all great ways to get to the show or jumping on the Kokua Festival Shuttles. These convenient shuttles had four pick-up locations around the island and brought attendees to and from the Festival each day. All shuttle riders had the privilege of Express Entrance to the venue.
The Kokua Festival arranged for free parking across the street of Kapiolani Community College on Monsarratt Ave, along with free electric shuttles that ran from 2pm to 11pm on both show days.
