FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What charity is the money going to? What is the Kokua Hawaii Foundation?
The Kokua Hawaii Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaii. Our mission is to provide students with exciting and interactive experiences that will enhance their appreciation for and understanding of their environment so that they will be lifelong stewards of the earth. While the Kokua Hawaii Foundation participates in a variety of environmental education initiatives in Hawaii, we have three main programs: 3R’s School Recycling, Environmental Field Trip Assistance, and ‘AINA In Schools. More information on programs and membership is available at http://www.kokuahawaiifoundation.org

Are you hiring people to work or volunteer at the event?
Short answer NO…long answer, we are thankful to have received so many emails and letters of inquiry offering volunteer help at the Kokua Festival. Since 2003, Kamehameha Schools’ Tree Hugger Club has served as our core volunteer group, providing reliable and energetic support to many aspects of carrying out a successful and greener festival. We have chosen to work with a few large service groups rather than several individuals in order to streamline coordination logistics and make the most of the experience gained by these groups each successive year. While we do not have a need for any more festival volunteers, we hope you will still join us there. Enjoy the music, learn about healthier environmental practices and products at the non-profit and eco-biz booths, and help the cause by reducing waste and recycling at the festival. We do welcome volunteer inquiries throughout the year in support of our programs.  Please visit http://www.kokuahawaiifoundation.org or email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to learn more. Mahalo for your support!

Can my non-profit or eco-business get a booth in the Kokua Village?
All Kokua Village booth spaces have been filled. We realize that there are many wonderful eco-businesses and Hawaii-based environmental non-profits out there, but are unable to accommodate more booths due to both space and resource (tents, tables, etc.) limitations. See a list of this year’s booths here.

How can my band perform at the Kokua Festival?
At this time we have confirmed all the artists who will be performing at the 2010 Kokua Festival. We are not accepting submissions for future Kokua Festivals at this time. Thanks for your interest, and we hope to see you at the festival to enjoy this year’s program!
